Start Network Risk and Accountability Challenges
At the Start Network Assembly 2021, Humentum and Start Network launched an initiative to re-imagine risk and accountability. This was due to Start Network’s members' feedback highlighting how the humanitarian sector’s current approaches to risk management are one of the most adverse barriers to supporting locally led humanitarian action.
Therefore, we are exploring new approaches and tools for assessing and managing risk, that puts accountability to crisis-affected communities at the centre. We are collecting ideas that address five key Accountability Challenges - identified through member feedback, exploratory sessions and desk research. Download the accountability challenges here in English, French, or Spanish.
As part of this process, we would like to invite you to help ideate new approaches and tools for one or more of the design challenges. It will be a great opportunity to collaborate with a wide network of organisations, collectives and individuals who are intentional about finding solutions to common risk and due diligence barriers, and help pave the way for local actors and crisis-affected communities to positively disrupt traditional risk and accountability structures, and test prototypes from this process in your organisation if interested.
If you would like to take part in this, please register to attend one of the workshops in order to help co-create a prototype that puts accountability to crisis-affected communities at the centre of how we manage risk.
