DEPP Celebratory Learning and Closing Event

21 March 2018

#11 Ortigas Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City Metro, Manila, Philippines Pasig 1605

What lies beyond DEPP in the Philippines? What are our key takeaways from the last three years of DEPP in the Philippines? What can we do to ensure effective take-off of the shared strategic agenda?

The purpose of the three-day event is to provide a platform for stakeholders working with or as part of the disasters and emergencies preparedness sector in the Philippines to discuss DEPP projects’ contribution to the progress in transforming the Philippines humanitarian system, alongside global efforts to transform the global humanitarian system. The event is a celebration of DEPP projects’ third year of collaborative impact. Officially marking the completion of DEPP projects in the Philippines, the event will delve into innovative and collaborative strides and gains. Come join us and over 100 leading humanitarian actors/leaders and organizations across the country. We’ll discuss progress on transforming the Philippines humanitarian system, provide insight into the latest DEPP research, share best policy and industry practices, explore new trends, present some of the innovative ideas flourishing across DEPP and partners, share ideas and build synergies around three thematic areas and inform the way forward for preparedness.

Thematic Area 1: Celebrating the Gains of Collaborative Learning for Effective Humanitarian Response

In the past two years, the Financial Enablers Project has sought to enable seven national and consortia in the Philippines to collaborate, innovate, and learn together for effective humanitarian preparedness and response. This session shall seek to ascertain the extent by which the project has brought about changes in the areas and sectors where the consortia operate, and to celebrate these achievements.

Thematic Area 2: Owning our future: Our vision of locally-led responses

The Philippines humanitarian action looks bright. We discussed and redefined surge capacity from a national/local perspective. We created a shared roster and a mechanism for pooled humanitarian fund. We discussed, tested and learned how we can all work together more effectively. We know what we need to do for a better humanitarian response, putting disaster affected people and their institutions at the center. We will talk about our vision of the future of our humanitarian responses and the innovations we can do.

Thematic Area 3: DEPP External Evaluation Preliminary Results Discussion and Validation Workshop

For three years, the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) has been conducting an external evaluation of the DEPP programme alongside its implementation. The evaluation team has collected and analysed data on individual, organizational and system-level changes due to the DEPP. The evaluation focused on design and implementation of the DEPP, as well as outcomes of the programme across all 14 projects and 10 countries. In this session, HHI will discuss preliminary findings from the external evaluation of the DEPP and obtain feedback from participants

Please confirm your attendance before the 15th March 2018.
