WHS side event: The Power of Insurance, Forecast-Based Action and Recovery Finance

Reducing the Humanitarian Finance Gap

The event, led by the World Food Programme and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), outlines the role of climate risk insurance, forecast-based finance and other new solutions in contributing to the paradigm shift from managing disasters to managing risks.

23 May 2016 | 1.00 to 2.30 pm | Rumeli hall 5 (LKCC)

The G7 initiative on climate risk insurance (InsuResilience) and the World Food Programme (WFP) support innovative approaches which offer a quick response in disaster situations thereby saving costs and lives and mitigating the financial overburdening of the humanitarian system, while fostering increased preparedness and resilience.
