Four new trustees join the Start Network Board
We are pleased to announce that four new trustees have now joined the Start Network Board!
The new trustees come from a variety of backgrounds, and join the Board at an exciting time, as the Start Network transitions to new leadership and enters its second month as an independent entity.
Binny Prabhakar (independent trustee) has more than 20 years experience delivering policy, strategy and planning as well as financing across a variety of sectors.
“It is an exciting time to be involved in the Start Network, as it enters new phase addressing rapidly evolving, polarising vectors of humanitarian crises by disrupting existing paradigms to deal with critical gaps in humanitarian aid. As an independent Trustee, I look forward to working with Start Trustees, Management and Team, Members, Partners and Donors to maximize impact, assuaging human suffering, and driving resilience and human progress”
Noreen Gumbo (member trustee) is Head of Humanitarian Programmes at Trocaire, and has an extensive career in the international development sector across national and international organisations as well as the UN.
“I believe the next period is going to be really exciting for Start - spinning off, creating local hubs and building our funding base; and I really do believe that Start can make a difference to improve the humanitarian sector”
Waseem Ahmad (member trustee) is Director of International Programmes at Islamic Relief Worldwide, and has over 15 years of humanitarian experience in a number of countries and across different organisations.
“From my experience working with highly vulnerable communities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Malawi, I firmly believe that there needs to be a North to South power dynamics shift, where the decision-making power and funding is put in the hands of local organisations. As a Start Network Trustee, I will be committed to the values and objectives of the Start Network and will work cooperatively with fellow Trustees, staff and members.”
Alexandre Giraud (member trustee) is CEO of Solidarites International and comes with a long career in the humanitarian sector, as well as a strong background in business and entrepreneurship.
“I feel honoured to support and to serve the Start Network, in order to build a third pillar for humanitarian aid. Aside from the UN pillar and the Red Cross pillar, a pillar of NGOs through an intelligent coordinated platform can provide more balanced, more responsive and efficient humanitarian response”
