The Start Network Assembly is the network's highest governing body, made up of representatives from each member agency. The Assembly is taking place this week in Bonn, Germany, kindly hosted by Network member Welthungerhilfe.

The Assembly is an opportunity to come together to learn how the network has progressed over the past six months; build on the learning to tackle shared challenges, and make decisions on the Network’s future and strategic direction.

Below is the learn presentation for the Start Fund.

Case study: Ebola in The Democratic Republic of Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Ebola case study shows a progression of learning for responses to disease outbreaks in the Start Fund. The successful response in northwest DRC generated an alert east of the DRC at the very beginning of the ebola outbreak there. This represented a proactive approach that had been adopted by members in the region. Similar situations in neighbouring countries have led to members submitting anticipation alerts in Uganda and Rwanda respectively due to experience and learning when mitigating the impact of disease outbreaks.
