Antaŭvido de Varmondo - Okupita Palestina Teritorio (OPT) - Atentigo 724
Extreme high temperatures were forecast to affect the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD), peaking from June through to August 2023. This posed a severe threat to the already vulnerable population of approximately two million, subject to prolonged insecurity and restrictions on movement and livelihoods due to the occupation. The purpose of the early actions was to enhance the resilience of vulnerable farming communities and protect their health and well-being from the severe impacts of the impending heatwave.
The Community Protection Committees (CPCs), established in previous projects, collaborated with Agricultural Development Association (PARC) to design Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) plans. These provided a useful tool for communities, to identify, assess and manage potential heatwave risks.
Explore the implementation and impact of anticipatory action for heatwave in OPT in this case study.
