The United Nations Climate Change Conferences happen each year and serve as the formal meeting of UNFCCC parties, a space for negotiations on climate goals, and a global forum for multilateral discussions on matters related to climate change.
This year’s conference – COP29 – is the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties and will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 11-22 November 2024.
Start Network first attended a COP event in 2021 (COP26) and has been an observer organisation since 2022 (COP27), with the following aims:
- To highlight the humanitarian impacts of the climate crisis and demonstrate the need for humanitarian actors to better coordinate with climate actors;
- To encourage more humanitarian actors to be a part of the climate conversation;
- To share learning from the humanitarian sector’s experience responding to immediate and urgent situations and how this can be applied to the climate sector given increasing climate emergency situations.
