READY Pakistan
READY Pakistan is leading change in humanitarian aid systems in Pakistan. It is the first hub that has transitioned out of incubation and into a state of inter-dependence.
Once registered as a legal entity, READY Pakistan will be a platform of in-country local, national and international organisations to control their own resources and define their own responses to crises.
READY Pakistan distinguishes itself by prioritising the localisation of humanitarian assistance and fostering inclusive collaborations between local and international entities. Its unique features include a three-tier due diligence system, a majority of local/national NGOs as members, and transparent decision-making through the National Steering Committee.
The National Steering Committee is the highest governance body of READY Pakistan. It is currently led by a local organisation and represents all Start Network members in Pakistan. The Hub will have representation of 50% local NGOs.
Vision:
Create a proactive, resilient, people-centred, locally led and innovative ecosystem.
Mission:
Shift the humanitarian system in Pakistan through demonstrating the impact of anticipatory and innovative action to strengthen preparedness and predictable response to crises.
Focus Areas:
- Innovation Challenge: READY Pakistan organisations receive training on humanitarian and SPHERE principles, security and logistics, financial and risk management, inclusivity, diversity, and accountability, rapid need assessment, do no harm, and gender audit of humanitarian action etc.
- Disaster Risk Financing Initiatives: Funds are prepositioned for anticipatory actions (preparedness and response) for drought, flood, and heatwave, and a platform is available for learning and knowledge management.
‘Changing the system is not a simple job so shifting the power is also our big achievement.’Jamshaid Farid, Chairperson of Pakistan Hub
