Start Network is delighted to release details of new features added to its innovative Start Fund portal.

Start Network has launched three new grants that will enable members to access funds in order to accelerate locally led anticipatory action and community-led approaches to monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning. 

The Community Led Approaches to MEAL Grant enables people affected by or at-risk of crises to have more of a say in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.

Revolutionary “blockchain” technology that could transform how the world does business is to be tested by the Start Network through the Start Fund, in the first ever trial of its use in rapid response to humanitarian crisis.

The Start Network will soon begin testing blockchain technology in delivering humanitarian finance, through its partnership with Disberse, a start-up social enterprise. This pilot aims to tackle inefficiencies in the delivery of funds by making the distribution of aid fast and completely transparent.

Four projects are now underway with funding from the Start Fund to respond to the recent outbreak of Ebola in Sierra Leone.
