After 35 years of working with some of the world’s most marginalised and vulnerable people, Handicap International has chosen a new name that reflects the values the organisation believes in and better expresses the breadth of its work.
Humanity is one of its core values, while the inclusion of people overlooked or ignored by humanitarian response and development programmes is the ambition that has driven its work for the last 35 years.
Handicap International's work includes support to people with disabilities, but also includes mine action as well as logistics and basic needs support in humanitarian crises.
For the first time in the organisation’s history, the logo contains a symbol. This symbol transcends language and culture, while clearly showing the acronym ‘HI’.
The organisation's network is composed of national associations which are now known as "Humanity & Inclusion" in Canada, the United States of America and the United Kingdom, and "Handicap International" in continental Europe (France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg).
The orgaisation's global Federation which implements its programmes in the field in around sixty countries, will operate under the names "Humanity & Inclusion", "Handicap International" or "Atlas Logistique", depending on the country.
