Crisis Response Summary: Niger

In September 2018, Doctors of the World were awarded MERF funding to repond to urgent needs of migrants during a migration spike within the city Agadez in Niger.

Doctors of the World, in coordination of their partners Action pour le Bien Être (APBE), Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI), United Nations High Commissioner of Refugees (UNHCR) and local health authorities, implemented this project on the new camp site. Doctors of the World focused their response on medical needs of the community, with the initial activities focusing on emergency medical needs via mobile clinics, transferring patients to regional hospitals if their cases were too severe for a clinic response, psychosocial care, sensitisation sessions on proper hygiene and preventing communicable disease transmission.
