REVIEW OF GENDER IN START FUND PROJECTS

The Start Fund, a rapid response pooled fund designed to fill the humanitarian financing gap in the acute phase of emergencies and in anticipation of emergencies, has enabled the delivery of 1,130 projects to 24,873,827 people across 75 countries as of June 2023.

This review aims to assess the extent to which gender considerations have been successfully integrated throughout Start Network members’ and their partner agencies’ activities implemented as part of the Start Fund alert cycle. It aims to open up further areas of enquiry on the state of play concerning gender in the Start Fund, so that the mechanism can evolve and adapt based on evidence and be better equipped to meet the needs of all segments of affected and at risk populations.
