SITUATION ANALYSIS: SYSTEM CHANGE INITIATIVES IN THE HUMANITARIAN SECTOR

This situational analysis explores where the Start Network’s Hubs model sits within a broader landscape of initiatives that are working in some of the Hub contexts (or across them) to bring about a more localised system.

It first considers what is already known about how to achieve change within the humanitarian system, and then explores the key approaches of these initiatives in relation to Start Network’s five key principles of systems change: practice, resources, power, relationships and purpose. It considers to what extent these initiatives are engaging with systems change, what they are learning about what works, what doesn’t, and also what they might tell us about the approach of the Start Network Hubs in bringing systems transformation within the humanitarian sector.
