COP26 is just around the corner, and we will be participating in six events with partners.

Join one of the COP26 sessions that Start Network will be participating in:

03 November - CLOSING THE PROTECTION GAP: HOW DISASTER FINANCE PARTNERSHIPS CAN PROTECT MORE PEOPLE ON THE FRONTLINE OF THE CLIMATE CRISIS

This event, led by the UK Government and the Centre for Disaster Protection, will highlight where aid-supported disaster risk finance is having an impact on climate-vulnerable communities and the crucial role that public-private partnerships can play in backing these schemes with insurance and reinsurance cover at scale. Start Network CEO, Christina Bennett will be speaking.

03 November - DELIVERING ON RESILIENCE & ADAPTATION: BUILDING EFFECTIVE RISK MANAGEMENT & PROTECTION SYSTEMS FOR THE FUTURE

This event will highlight the importance of strengthening risk financing systems as a necessary component of resilience building and adaptation efforts and will showcase public-private collaboration to inspire others to achieve the change necessary to address the impacts of climate change. Start Network's CEO, Christina Bennett, will be speaking at this event.

08 November - WELCOME TO 2025; WHERE EARLY ACTION IS THE DEFAULT

This event is an urgent call for ambitious commitments to avert and minimise loss and damage of climate change. The event will introduce reach/scale that Risk-Informed Early Action Partnership (REAP) can make if its full potential is realised; it tells the story of local leadership on early action, brings the focus on target countries leading early warning early action.

9 November - WHICH FINANCING MECHANISMS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO INCLUSIVE LOCALLY LED ADAPTATION IN FRAGILE AND CONFLICT SETTINGS?

This Development & Climate Days session will continue to explore the concept of “delivery mechanisms” for locally led adaptation, with a specific focus on the enablers and challenges in conflict-affected and fragile states.

10 November - CAN LOCALLY LED ANTICIPATORY ACTION BE LEVERAGED TO ADDRESS CLIMATE IMPACTS AT SCALE?

Join us at the Development and Climate Days 2021, held during the annual Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on 9-10 November 2021.

10 November - LOCALLY-LED SOLUTIONS TO DRR AND ANTICIPATORY ACTION: CHALLENGES, LESSONS LEARNED AND IDEAS FOR SCALING UP.

This session will showcase locally-led and locally-owned solutions to climate adaptation, resilience building and early action, and it will engage participants in a discussion on how anticipatory action can be scaled up and institutionalised.
