A pilot fund for localised and collaborative surge in the Asia region is launching today. The fund, launching at the Start Network Assembly meeting in London, is part of the three-year Transforming Surge Capacity project which aims to improve the capacity of humanitarian agencies to scale up resources in emergency response.
This fund is making small grants of above £10,000 available to initiatives that pilot innovative approaches to surge capacity in the Asia region, with activities in the Philippines and Pakistan. The small grants scheme, totalling £150,000, creates a space for the project to pilot new approaches to collaborative and localised civil society surge capacity.
The call closes on 29 January 2016 with funded projects commencing in March/April 2016.
The Transforming Surge Capacity project is part of the Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Programme (DEPP). Funded by UK Aid, DEPP is collaboratively managed by CDAC Network and Start Network.
Who can apply?
This fund is open to concepts from all agencies involved in the Transforming Surge Capacity project (see below), which contribute to the project’s overall impact of more collaborative and localised surge.
Projects based in the Asia region, in the Philippines and Pakistan will be prioritised, while submissions from other DEPP priority countries (Bangladesh, DRC, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Mozambique, Myanmar, and South Sudan) will also be considered.
