This document includes a summary of key locally-led humanitarian action asks developed by Start Network. This can be used by the Start Network team, Start Network members and partners. Messages will be updated regularly as new evidence emerges from our programmes.
  • Locally-led humanitarian action aims to ensure communities have access to a fast, quality and sustainable humanitarian assistance. Local actors often play a critical role in this as their long-term presence in communities can ensure an earlier response, access and acceptance in communities affected by crises.
  • We believe that a more balanced international aid system, which shifts power to those closest to the front-line, will generate more effective and appropriate responses for people affected by crises.
  • Our programmes enable local decision-making, support the growth of local innovation and develop local capacity of individuals, organisations and institutions.
