The Start Network Assembly is the network's highest governing body, made up of representatives from each member agency. The Assembly is taking place this week in Bonn, Germany, kindly hosted by Network member Welthungerhilfe.
The Assembly is an opportunity to come together to learn how the network has progressed over the past six months; build on the learning to tackle shared challenges, and make decisions on the Network’s future and strategic direction.

Tiered Due Dilligence database
Start has embarked on a journey to re-envision due diligence, one that is in line with the kind of network we aspire to become. In partnership with TechSoup, we are developing a new tiered due diligence framework that seeks to be more inclusive, efficient and transparent.
Instead of looking at due diligence as a ‘pass/fail’ compliance exercise, the Start Network is exploring a ‘risk-based’ model where members fall into tiers, and each tier provides access to a varied portfolio of funding options. Alongside the new framework, we will develop a capacity-building programme to help members climb up the tiers.
In order to develop the framework, we have partnered with TechSoup, a US-based tech company well-known for their work on equivalency determination of non-US based charities through their platform, NGOSource.
We encourage all Start Network members to provide input and give feedback through upcoming surveys, workshops and pilots over the coming months. This will ensure that your voice is heard and the new framework works for you and the Network as a collective.
