The Start Network is delighted to announce Christof Gabriel Maetze has joined the Start Network Board of Trustees as its new Chair.
Christof joins Start Network because of his substantial experience as a commercial banker, with knowledge of business and change management, innovation, multi-stakeholder engagement, and developing structures and systems for good governance.
Christof’s previous executive roles include being a member of the Executive Management Board at Commerzbank AG and a member of the Executive Committee Corporate Bank at Dresdner Bank AG. Christof also currently holds a non-executive position as Member of the General Council of the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund.
Christof Gabriel Maetze said: "I am particularly pleased about the role the Start Network has started to play in innovations. Whether this concerns the flagship product of Start, the Start Fund, and the desire to attract new sources of funding, insurance and related resources or the work on Anticipation. It is about innovation itself and the idea to harness the power of digital in all its forms for use in the humanitarian industry and it is innovation about new forms of co-operation and governance. The latter is particularly interesting as it challenges the current standards of traditional governance. All in all, a number of topics that I find highly interesting and I am looking forward to make my humble contribution to the development of the Start Network based on my experience and my never-ending curiosity."
Bob Ruxton, Concern Worldwide and member of Start Network’s Board of Trustees said: "Christof has a very impressive track record in leading large-scale initiatives, but more importantly the Board and Team have been inspired and encouraged by his humanity, courage and charisma. His questions, insights and contributions he has made already have served to reinforce how fortunate we are to have secured the interest of someone so well-placed to guide the next phase of the Start Network’s journey.”
Christof joins the Board as an Independent Trustee, taking over from Richard Winter.
