Start Fund Bangladesh

Start Network is working towards a decentralised model of national and regional hubs. Hubs will manage their own funds and local and national NGOs will have direct access to funds. The first programme demonstrating this way of working is the Start Fund Bangladesh, which over the course of four years aims to put more support and funding in the hands of national and local responders.

DEPP Innovation Labs

The DEPP Innovation Labs created a diverse network of national and international organisations to grow areas of innovation that come directly from communities affected by crises.

Migration Emergency Response Fund

The Start Network’s Migration Emergency Response Fund (MERF) supported organisations to provide a rapid response to changes in needs along the migration route.

Community-led innovation

We believe that people affected by crises are best placed to address their own needs. We aim to foster innovation at a local and community level, recognizing the innate innovation capacity that is within communities and support community innovators in developing and testing their solutions.

Advocacy

To drive a wider transformation in the humanitarian sector, we need to advocate boldly and speak the truth to power.

Risk and accountability initiative

The risk and accountability initiative uses design thinking to explore new approaches and tools for assessing and managing risk in the humanitarian sector.

Systems innovation

Start Network is based on innovation: looking for new ways to create the system change that will shape a more effective humanitarian system.

Locally led action

Start Network’s vision is for a more balanced international aid system that is accountable to people affected by or at risk of crises.

Due diligence

All members of Start Network go through a robust due diligence process. We have redesigned this to open up membership to a wider spectrum of organisations.
